City living in the 21st century is stressful and offers no advantages.
Modern technological and industrial progress has led to a crucial development of our world, that especially affected living in cities. However, it is believed that living in a megalopolis can only cause stress and some other drawbacks. I do not fully agree with this statement because to my view advantages overweigh disadvantages.
To begin, there is no doubt that living in a city may become problematic for some people. For example, noise pollution is a one of the problems, that negatively affects mental health and causes stress. Also, industrial development resulted in an air pollution that is a crucial issue for many cities, especially in China.
Nevertheless, city living provides several vital benefits for citizens. Firstly, there are plenty of work opportunities in an urban environment, that is a great advantage for the middle-aged. Furthermore, a level of education is also higher because most of prestigious universities and schools are located in bigger cities.
Moreover, lack of greenery may be considered as a drawback, but number of governments greatly deals with this issue by developing park zones, such as Central Park in New York. Also, even though there are traffic congestions on roads, megalopolises have convenient public transportation systems, that allows citizens to commute to work in a short period of time
In conclusion, urban life experienced many changes in the last century, and some of them had negative impact on our lives, yet I believe that city living serves significant advantages to its dwellers and with the development of technologies it will be possible in the future to have a crucial improvement in the problematic areas.
