Cloning
1. I have to say I believe it is absurd that we find the need to try to clone human beings. I think the negative externalities far outweigh the positive ones if this was out into action. As far as the government funding research for cloning efforts I completely agree with the government in not funding any money towards the effort.
I believe there are other vital places that government funding needs to be directed to rather than cloning efforts. How about funding a cure for cancer? War effort? Education? The government strictly believes that cloning will only bring moral and societal problems so of course they do not want to be the culprit for that. Also I strictly believe no single president of the United States will ever want to be the one president that makes that decision because there would be too much risk involved.
There really is not enough reason for the government to fund research for cloning. Society and the way it would function and the way people would act would just be totally different. There are more vital needs for government spending than something so controversial like human cloning. It is just a topic that the public is not ready to decide on in our societal roles.
2. I really wouldn’t like for someone to clone me. It would seem to me like it would stem some individualistic virtues and attributes to diminish. I really do not know if I would like myself to be cloned. I would feel very uncomfortable with someone like myself walking around and being just like me.
I believe if human cloning exists where I would be able to clone myself I wouldn’t want that to exist because that to me would always put less emphasis on my life. I think we would all see the capitalistic society slowly decrease because emphasis on getting to the top would be less because there would be now two people to do with twice the amount of time. I also wouldn’t want to clone myself because it is just troubling to think about another me walking around. I grew up with the Religious principles that God made each and every one of us different and we are all different. It is very difficult to change thoughts that I based my entire Religious childhood on. That is how we were taught to not discriminate.
