There are many differences between high school and college, some can be an advantage, while others can be a disadvantage. Going to college is a completely different experience and is absolutely nothing compared to high school.
In high school we had set schedules given to us by our counselors in the beginning of the school year. Our classes were much shorter lasting only about 45 minutes to an hour. Exams were usually once a month and report cards were given every 3 months, showing our progress or failure. In order to walk around in the hallways, you needed a "Hall Pass" or else you were stopped by school security and taken into the dean's office. In high school they handed out free unlimited metro cards every semester to students who used public transportation to and from school. One thing especially different about high school was that books were free, and given to the students by the school. Teachers would give the books to the student, assigning work that had to be completed on a daily basis.
College is far more different than high school. In college, students have to pay tuition for their education. Schedules are made up by the students and classes are now lectures, usually lasting for about 3 hours. Exams in college are usually every other week, and report cards are mailed home once a semester. In college you can walk around wherever and whenever you please to do so. You also have the ability to walk out of lecture class when you feel like it. Metro Cards and books are not free in college. Whenever a professor assigns homework, it is the student's responsibility to buy the book and complete the assignments. If the assignments are not completed when they are due, the professor will fail you and not accept any excuses.
In conclusion, college is a different, but, an exciting experience. The ability for one to good in college is based upon that person, whether or not they are capable and responsible enough to study and get the work done.
