A college education can be of importance in many aspects and stages of one's life. While not everyone can go to college, if you are given the opportunity to you should take advantage of it. College opens you to horizons never before seen. It also helps mold you into a well rounded person as well as helping you find yourself.
A college degree can help you to become a better family oriented person. Granted you may have your parents to fall back on, you may also have an opportunity to live on your own while earning a degree. This instills a sense of freedom as well as responsibility. You learn what must be done and what can wait. Often times you learn with other people some of which you realize you were bound to befriend and other you never would have even considered becoming friends with prior to being put in this situation. In high school, you may have disliked that person who sat next to you in class, however there was always that chance that your best friends sat right on the other side of that person. In college you usually want to get along with people and make new friends, unless you want to be alone in all of your classes. This prepares you for getting along with family friends or those in-laws you may not wish to have. Befriending different people also allows you to have freedom in what type of relationship you develop. It could be a water tight bond or it could just be one where you acknowledge them when you see them. This helps you in the family when your relatives or children make friends with someone you may not particularly enjoy the company of, yet you can learn how to dictate how close you truly want to be to this person.
The process of attending college may even make you a more outgoing and understanding person because making new friends isn't always easy and you may realize this while you are earning your degree. This happens when you generally know very few, if any, people going to the same college as you and this cause you the need to make new friends. You may wish to rush a sorority or fraternity and in the process be put into some circumstances which cause you to befriend different types of people. You may also learn how close a friend has to be before you begin to trust them. This can come in handy later when there's a secret you're just dying to tell someone, but they must never reveal it to anyone. It may also help when you get a job and are stuck in a sticky situation.
