COMMUNITARIANISM.

Communitarianism critiques liberalism in some values. Moral individualism because in reality our choices and freedoms are influenced by social relations and values. According to moral individualism, to be free is to subject only to obligations I voluntarily incur. The government neutrality because it fails to recognize that moral values are united to the people that works in the government. And free markets because they exist for moral purpose and not just for economic reasons.

Another important view of this theory is reparations and apologies. Should I apologize for something that happened before I was born? According to communitarianism, to apologize for an injustice is to take some responsibility for it, therefore only someone who is somehow implicated in the injustice can apology for it.

Another view that can make us see a weakness and a strength is the one from an addictive person. The strength would be that, thanks to this theory the addictive person will have a place where he or she can receive treatment and be fully functional again. The theory helps them in a good and a bad way at the same time because it protects them while they are still addicts (paying all their mistakes including jail, drugs, hospitals...) and it gives them an excuse to be like that: because our society is very strict and we do not have completely freedom with our choices. But when they decide to rehabilitate, communitarianism will help them too giving them a place to recover.

One strength about communitarianism is that critiques the libertarian freedom. It is not that easy to make our own choices because the society that we live in sometimes dictates our decisions.

The weakness is connected to the strength because that same idea viewed from a wrong perspective can be bad. Some people take this reason as an excuse for all their behavior and maybe they are right, but that cannot stop you from doing the right thing either. I am talking about people that get addicted to drugs or any other kind of thing and because they think it is society's fault they do not work on getting better.
