Crucifixion Vs. Holy Trinity
Giotto di Bondone was one of the most important painters in the 14th century, who lead the foundation of Renaissance. He also introduced a new standard of perspective and naturalism. On the fifteenth century was the really beginning of the Renaissance; during this period people expressed a revival of the classical value benefits, it shows the obvious return to the "Classicism" in Florence. The other main artist in that period was Masaccio, whose innovation the use of scientific perspective in painting, and the from Donatello he learn the knowledge of classical art make him away from the prevailing Gothic style. As we know the real giants of the renaissance were Masaccio and Giotto, and on all the forefront of these artistic expression, they both depicts the deep emotional and the scene impact. However, for me Masaccio's work seems to be more advanced and maybe better, but Giotto's work often touches the soul in features of a truly good art too. These two arts that I chose was the one of the most important artwork from Giotto and Masaccio. The one above was the Crucifixion from Giotto, and the one below it is the Holy Trinity by Masaccio. By looking at these two pictures, you can see that even though they both living in Renaissance, but they still have many different and similar in their work.
The Crucifixion by Giotto di Bondone, it was a fresco, made in 1305. in this painting it depicts the tree - dimensional, which make it seems you can reach out and touch their faces. by looking at this painting you can see that Giotto's use those beautifully illustrate to show the imagery with flawless realism, and it look emotional too. On the painting the sleeping Virgin Mary is on the left side, and it was supporting by the three Marys and John the Evangelist. The crying woman Mary Magdalene was sitting at Jesus's feet. The most notable things were few sadly angles hovering on the sky around Jesus. On the right side there are another one holding Jesus clothes, clearly afflicts the death of Jesus. Giotto again emphasizes the human side of a divine. By using the cross, to separated the evil on the right and the sacred on the left. Giotto painting style was to presenting a human figure with three - dimensional, instead of on a flat surface, it showing a characters and their behaviors, during this time, this was a new and unique style.
The other iconic work from Renaissance was the Holy Trinity by Masaccio, this Fresco religious painting was located in the church of Santa Maria in Novella. On this painting, Masaccio use a lower perspective to let the audience almost look up to Jesus on
