Rousseau said, "Man is by nature good, it is civilization tht ruins him." What does the Bible have to say about this? First of all, in the beginning when their were no sins on this world, man is good. In the book of Genesis (1:31) God have created the body of man pure and good; there was nothing inherently evil or sinful about it. But since after the fall of man (Adam and Eve) or the enter of sin, man is no longer pure or "good". According to the Bible, there's a difference between the flesh and the body. There are three meanings in the Scriptures: the flesh of ou physical body (John 6:55); the fallen or the corrupted body contaminated by sin (Romans 7:18); and the fallen man (Romans 3:20). God did not create fallen flesh. All things are created of good. It's when man fell, sin, the evil nature of Satan came into the man's body. Sin is the evil nature of Satan. We may even say that sin is Satan, because sin dwells in our body and because sin is the nature of Satan.
I believe the civilization or the things around us is not the only thing that ruins us. Since we're all sinful after the fall of man, it is just easier for us to be effected by the things around us, which can make us even worse. It is true though that many things ont his earth can effect greatly of our thoughts and actions, but I believe it is our choice whether or not we should follow what is happening around us. Peer pressure is one of the greatest effects on most people nowadays. It is just too hard to change what the world is now, but I believe it is never too late to start changing by starting reorganize your own thoughts and beliefs.
