As Benjamin Franklin once stated, “When the well’s dry, we know the worth of water.” Conserving water has been a big issue and a major topic discussed for many years. We tend to do things that we think is safe and eco friendly but it ends up destroying or harming rivers, streams, marshes, or even wetlands. Fresh, clean water is a limited resource. Although 70% of the earth is covered in water, 0.3% is useable water that can easily be used by humans and the other 99.7% is salt water that is only useable after it goes through desalination which is an exorbitant process. Not only do humans need water to live, but plants and animals need clean water to thrive. The water we have now is the only source we will ever get because we are not capable of producing or making more.  Water is a necessity in life and it is our responsibility not only to conserve it but to clean it so it is safe and useable for use and other living factors.

Learning to keep our water clean is an essential part in learning to preserve or conserve it. The water in the water cycle is a continuous pattern of water we use evaporating to the sky and coming back into the earth. As “Source 1: A Wish for Water” highlights, the water we put down the drain goes to oceans and rivers and then after the water cycle it might be the same molecules in someone’s cup. Not only are oceans and ocean lives the only thing we should draw our attention to but also wetlands are marshes. “These wetlands clean water naturally and are habitats for many wild birds, fish, and a variety of other species.”[Source 1] Humans are harming the water source and the animals’ homes by using fertilizers with man harmful chemicals that fun and leak off through drains into water bodies.

Another item that we don’t mainly focus about when we consider water and water conservation are coral reefs. The source mentions the multi-purpose of this object by stating that not only do these magnificent plants provide shelter and food for organisms in the sea but it also supplies humans with jobs, food, and are some of the main ingredients used in medicine. People are one of the main reasons that coral reefs are in danger. Fishing nets and ships can destroy or damage the reefs by breaking them apart. Water pollution and natural issues like warmer weather and hurricanes and earthquakes are also another component to why these amazing objects
