Coraline

In the book, Coraline, author Neil Gaiman tells a fascinating, yet disturbing, story of supernatural fiction. The main character is a young girl named Coraline Jones. She lives with her parents in an apartment flat. Coraline is a very adventurous type of character, always looking for something new to discover. The story takes place in Coraline's flat, and in her "other" flat.

The story begins describing how a normal day for Coraline would be. It describes how her parents where, how the weather was, how her neighbors were, and how her surroundings looked and felt like. Coraline spends most of a normal day out exploring. Her parents are usually too busy with work to really spend any quality time with Coraline. Coraline makes it a daily activity to stop by and visit her neighbors Miss Spink, and Miss Forcible.

The door led to a brick wall.

Coraline woke up one night and saw that the door was open, even though she was sure her mother had locked it. That morning, her parents left her home alone, and Coraline saw the door open again. She saw that the brick wall wasn't there anymore and so she went through the door to the other side. On the other side of the door it looked exactly like her flat. Although it looked the same, the feeling was different. There were creatures there that resembled her parents, except they had big, black, buttons for eyes.

It was as if she had waked into a replica of her world, except that this world was dull and unhappy, and filled with scary creatures trying to keep her there forever. The story continues, and Coraline gets trapped in the "other" world, with her "other" mother. Her real parents are also trapped somewhere in the "other" world, but the "other" mother is the only on that knows where they are. Coraline is determined to find her parents before the "other" mother transforms Coraline into one of them. During her adventure she finds many lost souls that she
