Halloween is a good time of the year and an excellent holiday. It's a time where people get together and have fun with the spooky side of life. You can see skeletons hanging on people's doors, and cobwebs covering many windows. This is the holiday when someone can step outside their door and see people dressed up as a ghost or a pirate or maybe even a zombie. Halloween is a way that a person can get away by putting a mask on and pretending that they are something they are not. Older people wear costumes on Halloween to get in touch with their childhood. It is also an escape for young adults and older teens, a way to cut loose and let their hair down. Costumes can also be fun by giving someone courage to do things they wouldn't normally do, like go hit on pretty girls or do that record-breaking keg stand Wearing costumes is a tradition for many people and it is a fantastic thing to do on Halloween.
When people were younger and in their childhood days, their imagination would run wild. A child can be anyone or do anything. Who among us hasn't simply wrapped a towel around ourselves and jumped from couch to couch pretending to be Superman? The child's imagination is an amazing thing, but when people start to get older and have more responsibility they start to lose that playful imagination they once had. That is why during Halloween many older people gladly will put together a costume and wear it around town. It brings them back to the day where they could imagine anything. People's imagination starts firing up when they try to decide what they want to be for Halloween because the possibilities are endless when a person uses their imagination. I have seen about as many good costumes this year as I have seen horrible ones. I have seen a guy dressed up like a fearless and deadly samurai. He had black and red cloth draped over him so it looked like he had a black undergarment and a red long vest on. His black long hair was pulled back into a tight ponytail that stuck up on to top of his head. On his back he had two swords strapped with some rope as if he was about to go into battle. This guy almost looked like the real deal. Then there was another guy I saw that all he had on was a blue and white bowtie around his neck. He was wearing blue jeans and a button up shirt with a jacket on. At the neck of his button up white shirt sat the bowtie. The guy with the samurai outfit put a lot of time and imagination into his and the other guy didn't even try. I guess the guy wearing the bowtie did not want to use his imagination and think of something good. A person can become a child all over again, it they choose to, except in a grown up body.
Wearing a costume on Halloween is an escape from a person's environment. It is a way to get away from it all. Wearing a costume means becoming something a person is not. So it's like jumping into someone else's shoes. People don't worry about bills and money problems when they are dressing up to become a vampire. Worries and stress is the last thing on their mind. When people wear costumes they should only be worried about spilling beer on it. Wearing a costume on Halloween can let someone allude the responsibilities for one day so that they can kick back and have a little fun.
Wearing a costume is not only fun, but wearing a costume can also can give people courage to do things that they would usually never think of doing. It is fun to dress up as Fred Flinstone going around yelling, "BARNIE!" all the time. It is funny to look and see Papa Smurf and a Clown trying to sing show tunes, and all the while running around and
