Executive Summary

Creative Studios is a startup business with one principal. Jane Doe is a junior marketing major.

The new business will offer graphic design services to local small businesses and Internet customers. The principal believes that she can offer a high-quality service which is in demand.

There is an unfulfilled demand for affordable graphic design services in the local area. Initial research has shown a need for such services. Market projections calculate approximately a potential business of at least 10 website Studios and 10 logo Studios per month. Also, there are over 100 small businesses within city limits, which all could use design services of some form. The majority of these businesses have expressed interest in my service.

This business plan has been developed to design a blueprint for operation and to introduce Creative Studios to potential investors. I have intentions of borrowing $10,000 from a bank with 6% interest. The bank loan would need to be a five-year loan.

General Company Description

Name and Location

Creative Studios is a start-up business with one principal who will be involved in its development. The principal contact is Jane Doe. This is to start out as a home-based business with a future plan to expand into a more public domain.

Nature and Primary Product or Service of the Business

This business will primarily focus on Website design and logo creation. During the past 12 months, I have researched the need for a company such as this. I discovered that this type of company could serve the need of many local businesses, as well as businesses on the Internet. The mission of this company is to offer high-quality professional work at affordable prices. I expect to keep my customers satisfied by giving them what they need. I will make her customers' happiness my top priority.

Current Status

This business venture will be started in January 2006, assuming the adequate funding will be available at that time. This business will provide a service to potential customers on the Internet, as well as residents in or near the city. The chief efforts during the first six months will be aimed at the local market and expanded as quickly as possible to the Internet market.

Legal Form of Organization

This business will be a sole-proprietorship. The owner/operator of this business will be Jane Doe.

Services

Description of Services

The main service of this company will be the preparation of graphic design projects for local small businesses and Internet customers. Some of our projects, such as business cards and envelopes, will need to be printed. Many times, the price will be included in a package deal. I anticipate that this company will make approximately $2000 of its yearly revenue from these printed projects.

Superior Features or Advantages Relative to Competing Products or Services

The majority of my designs will created using Adobe Photoshop CS2 software, which is the most advanced graphic design program available at this time. Also, my computer will have the most advanced features so I can rely on its dependability. I will print my designs on a high-quality color laser printer.

Any Available Legal Protection - Patents, Copyrights, Trademarks

I plan to gain copyright protection on my original designs. This will ensure that no other business will copy the logos that I create for my customers.

Dangers of Technical or Style Obsolescence

The increasing use of computers by everyday users and small businesses will make the preparation of their own designs easier for them to do themselves. However, most of them do not have the knowledge, software, or desire to do it themselves. In the future, I expect a small decrease as more people learn how to create their own designs.

Marketing Plan

Analysis of Target Market and Profile of Target Customer

The primary target market for my services will be small businesses in or around the local area. There are over 100 small businesses within city limits. I estimate that the majority of these businesses could use my services in some form. The secondary market is the Internet market. This market has a lot of potential because I can attract customers of all types from all over the world.

There is the only other business of this type in the local area. One service that I will provide that this company does not is Website design and upkeep; I will be the only company in the area to offer this service. I will be able to offer all of my high-quality services at a cheaper rate than my competitor. I plan to keep my prices at least 10% below theirs at all times.

On the Internet, I will have more competition. I plan to open a graphic design store on eBay. I will keep my prices competitive with the other graphic design businesses.

How Customers Will Be Identified and Attracted

Since most small businesses can use some type of graphic design, I plan to recognize each small business as a potential customer. The small businesses are less likely to have their own internal resources for graphic design. On the Internet, there are always store owners on eBay who are looking for store display and logo Studios. I plan to target the new store owners.

I will attract my customers locally by going around to local businesses and speaking with the managers or owners. I would also advertise in the local newspaper and hang flyers on public billboards. On the Internet, I would make sure I get my business optimized in the search results.

Selling Approach, Type of Sales Force, and Distribution Channels

My services will be sold directly to local small businesses and my Internet customers. I predict that an excellent professional reputation will gain my company many referrals from regular customers.

I expect to make regular sales calls to potential clients, as time permits. Any time a new
