13-4 Credit Protection

My case is about credit protection. These days are getting harder to protect credit card from fraud. All this evolution and technology that does not stop evolving, credit cards are getting easier to be stolen or lost.

Maria Ochoa received two credit cards on May first. She received a credit card from Midtown Department Store and another credit card from High-flying Airlines. However Maria Ochoa only had solicited one of them. She did make a request to receive a credit card from Midtown Department Store, but not from High-Flying Airlines.

During the month of May, Maria has numerous credit-card purchases from Midtown Department Store, but she does not use the High-Flying Airlines card. At the end of the month of May, a burglar breaks into her house and steals both credit cards, along with other items. Maria did notify the Midtown Department Store of the theft on the second of June. But she did not notify High-Flying Airlines.

The burglar used both credit cards; with the Midtown Department Store he made a $500 purchase on the first of June and he also made a $200 purchase on June 3. Then, the burglar charges a vacation flight on the High-Flying Airlines card for $1,000 on June 5. Later on, Maria Ochoa received the bills for these charges.

Both companies are wrong charging Ochoa with the charges. The first company, Midtown Department Store, should not charge her because she did notify then two days after she was robbed. In addition to High-Flying Airlines should not being charging her, that credit card which she received was never order. She never made a request to be given a credit card from High-Flying Airlines. The only company that she orders a credit card was the Midtown Department Store, in which was notified two days after the robbery had happened.

Maria Ochoa is free of all charges, and she does not own anything to any of the credit card companies.
