Shari Courdon pointed out that these people can be trained value communication styles and life experiences. They always expect feedback in the workplace. They want to know why they must learn something before knowing how to do it. In other words, they focus more on the outcomes and not on the techniques. They have to see the value in the training or they are not motivated to learn new skills, and they show upfront why need the information. Training should be "attention- grabbing", it must be structured; self- study and a combination of education with entertainment accompanied by audio and visual effects. They have the ability to assimilate information quickly and to focus on multiple ideas at once.
They work on flexibility and independence and they are used to manage their own time. Xers need buttons to push, they tend to resent and resist efforts to force-feed them training. They should be provided many options like locations and time for them to participate actively in the training.
Generation Xers do not envisioned long -term relationship with employers. They keep growing through acquiring new experiences, skills and knowledge to stay marketable. They always desire for continuous education. However, if a company provides support for extended learning then, they are in the good position to keep and retain productive and young employees.
