In the beginning of the experiment, qualities and quantities of all 3 components were taken. Some qualities of the water were that it was a liquid and that it was clear. Some quantitative observations that were taken were recorded to be, 50 mL of water, the water was 22^C, and the weight of the water was 49.6 grams. Some qualities of the Blue Crystals were that they were green and blue color, had no smell, and had a crystal like structure. Some quantitative observations that were taken were recorded to be, 8.8 grams of crystals, and the mass was a spoonful. Qualitative and Quantitative observations were also taken of the aluminum foil. Some qualities were that the foil was easily malleable and it had a shiny gray color. Some quantitative observations were recorded to be, .7 grams of the aluminum, 11 ½ cm wide, and 15 cm long. When mixing the blue crystals and the water, it was thought that the crystals would just dissolve in the water, turning the water blue, and yes that did happen. Before stirring the mixture, all the crystals sank to the bottom, the water was 21^C, and the water turned a little murky. But, after stirring the mixture, the water started to turn blue, the crystals were slowly dissolving, and the water did keep the same temperature. A physical change occurred because there was an expected color change and the crystals just dissolved (dissolving is not a chemical change). After putting the foil into the mixture, it was predicted that the foil would turn blue, just like the water did, but that did not happen. A couple qualities that were recorded turned out to be that the aluminum did indeed change color, but to a copper/ brown color (not blue like predicted), the aluminum is dissolving, and bubbles were forming, indicating that there was production of a new gas. A couple quantities that was observed were recorded to be, that the water started off at 21^C, then reached its highest temperature of 39^C. A conclusion that was formed at the end of this experiment was that by combining blue crystals and water, then putting pure aluminum into the mixture, would form a new gas and dissolve the aluminum.
