I. INTRODUCTION

1.1. About Red Ginger

Red ginger is mostly known as a spice for cooking. The size of it rhizome is the smallest among other types of ginger and also have more coarse fiber. Red ginger has pungent flavor, and the volatile oil inside red ginger are very high which consists of albumin, kamfena, zingeberin, lemonin, shogool, gingeral, zingiberen, zingiberal, oil rosin, starch, malic acid, gingerin, and cinnamic acid. Red ginger has different skin color among others, it has pink skin color, but their meat color is slight brown. Even though some people don’t like the taste of red ginger (because it has spicy flavor), in fact, there are lots of benefits that we can get from red ginger. One of the most incredible benefits that we can get from red ginger is we can use it as herbal medicine. Red ginger contains gingerol which can make people stomach feel warmth.

Until now, many people especially Indonesian people still haven’t realized the benefits of red ginger as a medicine. There are several countries that widely use red ginger as their traditional medicine. Cina, India and Japan are example of countries that use red ginger as their traditional medicine. In other side of world, in Arabic, use red ginger as bodywarmers. Red ginger is more popular in Eastern medicine rather than in Western medicine.

As one of the most well-known spices that can be used as traditional medicine, it can be used to overcome impotence, back pain, asthma, headaches, bronchitis, tonsils, premature ejaculation, muscle aches, digestive problems, flatulence, influenza, ulcer disease. Besides that, several people in some areas also use red ginger to warm their body, stimulant, and overcome sweat bullets.

From some research that our group had been through, we decide to choose “JAHE MERAH” product as our international business product, because we think there are many chance we can see through this product. There are lots of benefits that we get from red ginger, which is the main ingredients of the product. Red ginger itself represent “Indonesia” because our country produce it a lot while it is hard to be found in other countries (especially countries outside Asia). That’s why we choose Netherlands, Swiss, and Qatar as our destination business countries. We see opportunity from those countries. The main reason is because red ginger itself are very rare in those countries and that 3 countries have 4 seasons, which means people inside the countries have majority live in low temperature environment and some people may suffer with it. Most of them who live in those countries consume alcohol to warm their body, but we all know that alcohol contains some chemicals that could harms human’s body. This product could be suitable as the substitute of alcohol (especially for them who are 50 years old or more). It is good and friendlier for their body. So, we think this is our chance to develop this business and promote the product to the world.

1.2. About Our Company: CV. Ginpow

CV. Ginpow is a newly established company founded in 2017 which specialized in exporting red ginger powder. This company is a sole distributor and act as an exporter of red ginger powder produced by PPYK convent.

PPYK convent itself is a group of nuns who are trying to start-up their own local business by selling red ginger powder which is one of Indonesia most well-known spices. It located in Kali Kuning Street, Kaliurang, North of Yogyakarta. They start selling red ginger powder since 2014 They produce their products by themselves to support their adopted children’s life. Behind their house, they also plant several Indonesian spices and vegetables by their own.
