D.A.R.E. Essay
By: Tanner Hatley
Well for starters D.A.R.E. is a class of individuals that are determined to be responsible and learn safety rules and guidelines. These safety rules correspond with drugs, alcohol, tobacco, Etc. These guidelines help children and adults alike and has helped make the world a better place. And by following the guidelines I learned I will be more successful and safe. And in the future I will try my best to follow the rules I have learned.
During my D.A.R.E. class I learned about how to stay safe and resist the abuse of drugs, alcohol, and tobacco. I also learned about stress and how to relieve it. One of the best skills I learned was how to evaluate your situation and decision. Evaluating your choices can be a useful skill throughout your life. in my booklet I've made some choices using the D.A.R.E. decision making model; Define, Assess, Respond, Evaluate. For example my brother and my friend got into a fight and I helped them by using the D.A.R.E. decision making model.
Bullying has been another major topic in my D.A.R.E. class. If you see bullying all you have to do is immediately report the bullying to a teacher or another trusted adult. Bullying is a matter of one person being aggressive to another individual. Bullying can be handled by reporting the situation with the five w’s: who, what, when, where, why. And in the future this information may be useful to me and my friends.
In the future I will use these things that I have learned and make responsible choices. Did you know that taking drugs can make your life miserable and harsh? That it can make you do things you don’t have any control over. It will turn you life for the worse. You can easily avoid taking drugs by not hanging out with people that you know take drugs. Also you can avoid by just saying no. That's your decision and they can’t change that.
And so D.A.R.E is a place to learn how to be safe and be responsible. And I can use these skills in my everyday life and influence others to make the right choice. Drugs and alcohol can destroy your life and things would never be the same. Bullying can make you a bad person and can get you in a lot of trouble. If you come into a bad situation just say no.
