There are many different points of view on the topic of death. One such view comes from a man named Nagel. Nagels point of view on death, is death is bad or negative you might say, and its ok to fear and not wish for your existence to end. The reason Nagel believes that death can be a negative experience, is because he believes, and follows a theory called the deprivation theory. This theory states that it is ok to believe death is bad or negative because a person finds living to be a good thing, the experiences, or anything that you love to do, even something that you may not like to do all that much, but constitute learning experiences in life is what makes life enjoyable. By being dead you will no longer be able to experience any thing life has to offer and therefore the end of ones life has to be a negative thing. Another reason it is ok to believe that death has a certain negative aspect about it, is when you are the member of a large or even small family, but this family counts on you as a support structure. When this happens the fear of what your death may do to the family is also acceptable, wondering what your family is going to do with out you and how are they going to survive without you, even how are they going to be financially when you pass, will make you believe and feel as if death has to be a negative or bad thing.

This is why such people as Epicurus believe that death is nothing to fear, because when you are dead there are no more brain functions, in other words you stop existing at some point, therefore you shouldn't fear or believe that being in the state of nothingness is a bad thing, strictly
