Dennis Rader

Dennis Rader was born on March 9th, 1945. He grew up in Park City, Kansas just outside of Wichita. His parents were William and Dorothea Rader. Both have passed away. Dennis has 3 brothers, Jeff, Paul and Bill Rader. He regulary attended church and was a compliance officer and also installed security systems. Rader was married on May 22nd, 1971 to Paula. They have 2 kids, Brian Rader and Kerri Lynn Rader. Brian is 31 years old and kerri is 28 years old. His daughter Kerri is currently living in Farmington, Michigan. Dennis Rader has been described as having a tight Christian control over his family, and as a by-the-numbers type of person, arrogant, rude, confrontation, meticulous, neat, efficient, friendly, a regular guy, and petty. Dennis graduated from Heights High School in Wichita in 1963 and from Wichita State University in 1979 with a major in Administration of Justice. Dennis served in the air force from 1965 to 1969.

The BTK killings started in 1974 and ended in1986. Dennis Rader haunted and scared the town of Wichita, Kansas. He frequently sent letters to a tv station and would show pictures of the victims or things he stole. After a murder he would call police or the tv station and let them know who it was and were they were left. Vickie Wegerle was strangled at her home in 1986, this was the last time anyone heard from the btk strangler. Then on March 19th, 2004 a letter was sent to the Wichita Eagle tv station containing a photocopy of Wegerles driver license and photos of her body. Police immediately linked it to the BTK strangler. On February 26th, 2005 a compliance officer named Dennis Rader was arrested at his home.

The first stranglings took place on took place on January 15th, 1974. Joseph Otero and his wife, Julie Otero were strangled in there living room. There daughter Josephine and housekeeper were found strangled in a bedroom and there son Joseph Otero was found strangled in the basement . The BTK strangler took the blame for it. He sent pictures and things he stole from the Otero family. Police knew it was him because know pictures were taken at the crime scene and the only person who would of had pictures was the murdered. On April 4th, 1974 Kathryn Bright who was 21 years old was stabbed to death in her home, police later concluded that it was a BTK victim.
