Individual Assignment 1

Design Thinking is a human-centered approach or methodology for solving problems creatively. It is technique which is innovation driven where the problem solver thinks about the design as the customer i.e. from the inside rather than solving the solution as an external entity. Design thinking is not just restricted to solve business problems but it can also be used in the field of education and even in Manufacturing and many more fields. Basically design thinking is divided into three phases namely Exploratory Phase, Concepting Phase and Prototyping Phase. For Group Number 4, there problem statement was to create a custom data dictionary for “Bugs” in reference to Eve Online case study with the reference to LIWC-Perceptual Process readymade dictionary. In the context, there thought process was to have a discussion of bugs and other broken parts of the software and create a custom dictionary for the same.

Summary:

The problem in hand as explained above was to create a custom data dictionary for “Bugs” in reference to Eve Online case study with the reference to LIWC-Perceptual Process readymade dictionary. They started their presentation by explaining the problem of their project in which they spoke about how they related Eve, LIWC and the Dataset provided to contemplate the perception in basically three major forms (SEE, FEEL, HEAR) from all the messages posted by the community members from 2008 to 2016. There thought process was also in the correct track as they stated their intention to correlate the different perception with the major events or crisis, which occurred during all these years at Eve Online. They basically followed top down approach by focusing on two major things Statistical approach and Text Mining approach.

After that, they further explained about how they are thinking to solve their problem. They performed their main data analysis in Tableau by showing graphs of “Perceptions of users across all years of Eve Online” along with Detailed Statistics of all the player count with percept factor greater than zero for the span of eight years data provided.

Feedback:

While listening to their presentation I found that the problem statement wasn’t explained properly, initially I could not understand their problem but upon investigating more I got clarity of what they were trying to do. The most basic issue with there presentation was that there slides had too much of textual data and it becomes very burdensome to read and stay focused on the presentation on the same time. There was lack of clarity on the subject matter and sequencing of Eve online events in presentation needed to be more precise.
