Determined Golfer

"Is this really going to happen?" I thought to myself after a long day after school. At first, it seemed as if my foolish self was not trying at all, but as the vigorous days passed by, it started becoming a reality. I always wanted to play a sport in high school and wear a comfy, warm letter jacket at that. While pondering deep into my beautiful mind, something popped like a bag of popcorn and gave me a great idea. I wanted to walk the perfectly bladed grass with shoes, shoes with soft spikes and wear flamboyant, ironed slacks even though the rougher sports called it a sissy sport.
"Golf tryouts this week after school..." the announcements roared through the schools ancient P.A. system. I heard this through my ears like a tree whispering in the wind. It was amazingly beautiful and I decided to joyfully tryout. I spoke to a couple of my buddies that wanted to try out and a few that were already on the team. They all encouraged me to try out and plus, I got a lot of free golf. In the start, I had very little confidence in myself, but as the long days on the coarse passed, my confidence was building up. I was watching people get cut every day, but for some reason I wasn't. I lasted all throughout the long week and was feeling nervous but also hopeful.
"Congratulations, you have made the Shelbyville fold team, " I hear from the godly Mister Hunton.
"Thank you very much!" I replied full with excitement.
Coach told me to be ready Monday for some hardcore golfing. My emotions were overwhelming like an explosive firework and my heart was thumping with happiness. I went home and told my parents the great news. My dad said, "Son, I am very proud of you and hope you do very well at this."
"Thanks dad for the encouragement!"
Once my mother had a chance to speak she stated, "I always new you could do what you set your mind to. Determination always pays off doesn't it?"
"Of course mom, thank you too for such wonderful words of wisdom."
I now saw myself as a golfer. I felt like I deserved to wear the golf shoes, slacks, and colored shirt. Right away I was comparing myself to the magical Tiger Woods even though I really compare to nothing next to him. The real test had not come though,
