Reflection Paper
Over the past several years the church I have attended my entire life began to experience some problems. Many of the leaders began to leave and look for other job opportunities leaving our church with basically nothing. Our youth leader suddenly stopped showing up and never told anyone that he found a different job five hours away from where we live. After all these leaders began to leave, many of the church members began to leave and basically give up on our church. The attendance number at our church dropped from five hundred to barely one hundred people every Sunday. This was a very sad and tragic event because when looking for new leaders no one would because of all the tension that now arose within the church community. The church eventually had to shut down because the number of people that attended continued to drop.
Over the past few weekend my family and I have been visiting various churches in our area. This process took a very long time, but after looking at about three other church we found the right one. This church was very welcoming and the pastor invited us to dinner the day that we met him. At that dinner later that night, we informed the pastor about what happened at our last church and he promised that would not happen at our church because we are all here dedicated to you. The diversity in this church was great there was many young people, adults with children, and a few elderly folks. Everyone during the service came up and welcomed us to their church family. Following the service my parents and I considered their youth program and they said this was their most important priority because the youth is the future of our world. When I met the youth director her was about thirty-three and had been the youth director at this church for ten years. The youth group goes on a trip once every month and meets every Sunday night and following every church service the entire church has a gather either inside or outside on their lawn.
This experience started off to be awful, but in the end taught me a lot. It taught me that there are people out there who will not give up even if it is the easiest thing to do. Also, it taught me that people do not always argue when things go wrong and leaders suddenly leave, they work things out. Most importantly, this event taught me some people are really there to help you and make the world a better place and not just have their jobs to provide for themselves. This event taught me to always be responsible and always look after other before yourself because no one likes anyone who just gives up on anything.
