This report is on Hurricane Andrew witch was the most destructive of all the hurricanes ever recorded in the United States witch was from August 16 to August 28, 1992.

Andrew started off the coast of Africa as a tropical depression on August 14, 1992. It brought rainfall, lots of wind, and deaths. It went to eventually becoming a category 4 hurricane or now they would call it a category 5. At least that’s what some said on there reports on about Hurricane Andrew.

It was small but very powerful and destructive. It caused twenty-six and five tenths billion dollars of damage in the United States alone and 70,000 acres of damaged mangroves in Florida. It was the most costly natural disaster ever in the U.S. history right in front of Hurricane Hugo but Hurricane Andrew had almost 20,000,000,000 dollars more damage than Hurricane Hugo did in 1989. Hurricane Hugo was the second most costliest hurricane ever to hit the United States of America with 7,000,000,000 dollars worth of damage and it was a category 3 hurricane.

On the 21st Andrew was between Bermuda and Puerto Rico then going westward to the Bahamas because it had more favorable conditions and environment.

On the twentieth of August, 1992 Hurricane Andrew had a central pressure of 1015mb when it was east of the Bahamas. It came over by a easterly wind from Africa. On August ,20 it made an eye. It tore through the Bahamas as a category 4 or 5 and killed three people. It has been proven in 2002 that it had wind speeds of 165 mph. It made $250,000,000 of damage in the Bahamas. When it left the Bahamas it had dropped 92mb to a central pressure of 922mb in less then 42 hours. Then it left the Bahamas come to South Florida.

The hurricane hit at Miami on the twenty fourth as a category 4 hurricane. The pressure went to a of 950mb. It killed lots of the Florida everglades like trees and mangroves. It was had light rain fall for a hurricane though it only had 7 inches of rainfall in Miami. It had a 18 foot storm surge right before it made landfall on the Florida coast line. It made lots of damage like the to Miami Metro Zoo who lost a lot of there animals like monkeys and other animals. They had to catch them from trees and other places. It went across the state at an average speed of 18 mph. It made a path of 25 mile wide and 60 miles long. Many people had to go without power or water for weeks. Some people didn’t have a house for a year after the hurricane hit. So some people had to temporarily move while they were building there houses. Some people moved permanently because they could not stay without any power. Then hurricane Andrew left South Florida and went in to the Gulf of Mexico.

Then it weakened into a category 3
