Our topic is on how people in this world will step over other people to get what they want....Whether it is morally right or wrong. In the Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz, the main character Duddy is a ruthless manipulator who will stop at nothing to pursue his dreams. Other than his own family, he walked over any person in his path to achieve his goals. Most people would look at this as a very shrewed way of living and find it morally incorrect.

On the other hand, you may hate the way Duddy worked, but you have to respect a man with such strong ambiton and drive to become The Man. From the time when Duddy's grandfather _______ told him that a man without land is nobody, Duddy did whatever it took to fulfill his grandfathers words of wisdom.

- Today in Canadian society, look at a businessman such as Peter Pocklington, the former owner of the Edmonton Oilers in the National Hockey League. Pocklington had the greatest player to ever play the game, Wayne Gretzky, and the entire country had fallen in love with him. After years of winning championships, Pocklington sold Gretzky to the Los Angeles for a large amount of money. In the process he broke all of the Canadian fans' hearts for his personal greed. It was very selfish and his motives are still being questioned for that trade today.

Pocklington knew this, took advantage of the situation, and sold his asset very high like any smart business man would. It may have looked like Pocklington screwed over the Canadian fans, but he was only doing what most people in his position would do.

- The thing with Duddy Kravitz is that he screwed over people by taking advantage of the fact that minors can not be sued in Canada, he defrauded stamp companies and sold stolen hockey sticks. Look at a guy like Bill Gates, people love this guy, but do they also know he stole his Graphical User Interface idea from Apple and Steve Jobs? He weaseled his way from designing the interface for Apple to making his own at the same time and selling it to Microsoft. Duddy Kravtiz was no better a man than Bill gates.

- Duddy's tactics might be a immoral but it is something that almost any successful business man would do. Do whatever it take to make money. Duddy played with fire, but he knew the system well enough not to get into too much trouble if he did in fact get caught. Going back to Bill Gates, Gates was a step ahead of Steve Jobs and Apple. He took advantage of a beautiful situation and used the idea to create his own wealth and empire. Gates was a smart businessman who took an opportunity of lifetime and capitalized on it.

- The thing is that Duddy also took advantage of Virgil's physical disabilities. He used Virgil's epileptic disabilities and conned him out of $1000 by employing him as a driver. Knowing Virgil would have a hard time finding a job with his disabilities, Duddy charged him exactly $1000 to provide him a truck for his new job. Also, after going bankrupt
