Edmund Hillary, the legend of adventurers

     Edmund Hillary, one of the most distinguished men in the New Zealand's history, is known as his expeditions of reaching the summit of Mt Everest which is the world's highest mountain. At 11:30 on the morning of May 29, 1953 which was be the remarkable moment destined for history, Edmund Hillary and his partner Tenzing Norgay conquered the Mt Everest , about 29,028 ft above sea level, the highest peak on earth. His heroic undertaking undoubtedly , which showed that human's tough and strong finally defeated the nature, brought us a profound impact.

     Edmund Hillary was born on 20 July 1919, in Auckland New Zealand where also fostered his interest in mountain climbing. He showed his strong interest in climbing at the age of 16 during a school trip to Mt Ruapehu. Excited by the extreme challenge after reaching the summit of Mount Ollivier,the first climb in his life of adventure, a idea of overcoming the Mt Everest began to grow.

     From the base camp to the summit, 9 camps in total which are the symbol of their hard working. " We stepped up. We were there. The dream had come true." said by Tenzing who was Edmund's partner. Because of Tenzing , Edmund established a profound friendship with the Sherpas. In the next years, he came back to Nepal and built a hospital, schools and the Himalayan Trust in order to help the Sherpa people. What he did to them also set a good example to people.

     It was not the work of one day...but of sustained and tenacious effort by many." said by exhibition leader Sir John Hunt. His spirit of dogged determination and diligence in adventure showed the courage and power of New Zealanders, the youth beside the Pacific Ocean. Moreover, his concentration on the Nepalese people created a tough bond between New Zealand and Nepal. He tried his best to offer welfare to those people and brought them buildings, clinics, hospitals and schools. It is Edmund Hillary that devoted himself to the mountain and loving business in Nepal. He is absolutely the hero of New Zealand who should be honored by his kindness and generosity.
