Introduction

A. How many of you have a car. Now how many of you had to take your car for emmissions this year.

B.Wouldn't you like to know what there doing to your car and what you are paying for. That is what i am going to discuss today C.

1.What are emissions.

2.What components are used to reduce them

3.What tests do they perform in berks county.

Body

A. Emissions by definition means -A substance discharged in to the air, especially but the internal combustion engine. One substance that your car releases into the air is called smog .Smog is created when airborn pollutants combine with oxugen and nitrogen and results in a yellowish gray color. It is harmfull to plants , humans and animals and can even strip the paint off your car. There are three basic types of emissions .They are Hydrocarbons that result from the release of unburnt fuel through your exhuast. Carbon monoxide which is the result of partially burn fuel.Nox which resulsts from high combustion temp. And Particulates which are carbon buildup that exits through your exhuast pipe.

B. There are many components that your car is equipped

to reduces emissions. I am only goin to discuss three. The Catalytic converter.(Point to picture tell what it is and what it does). The EGR valve (Picture and explain). And the PCV valve (Picture and explain).

C. Now I am goin to tell you what emissions tests they perform in the berks county area. In the Berks County Region the only test they do to your vehicle are a gas cap pressure test( explain)

Conclusion

Now that I have inormed you about what emissions are, what is used to contain them and what test are performed on you vehicle you should understand what is happening to your car and what your money is goin towards.
