Prior to starting college, I have not heard of entrepreneurs having many resources to help them find new ideas and support from other entrepreneurs and people who understand that starting a business can be very stressful and difficult. Being, or even becoming an entrepreneur can be a very long and difficult venture for many people. Some may have difficult times finding the time to do anything that isn’t directly for their business or families. Thankfully, there are resources out there for people who may need help, new ideas, business accelerators, and other resources. Some may find it difficult to find these resources though so I am going to provide a couple of great organizations that entrepreneurs can use to find whatever they might be looking for in the great state of Wyoming.
Wyoming SBDC is a great place to go to for any entrepreneur to find anything they may need. “The Wyoming Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Network has a passion for helping small business owners! Our team is ready to share their expertise with Wyoming entrepreneurs around the state, helping businesses grow and succeed, driving economic growth, and building a better Wyoming.” (Wyoming SBDC Network, n.d.) This site provides news and biz tips, as well as ways to contact any staff from this organization for assistance. There are blogs available, training resources, success stories, and much more. The website also provides an awesome area showing events and classes that are posted within many locations and counties of Wyoming. As a new entrepreneur in the state of Wyoming, this page could be a wonderful resource for many things that anyone could use for new ideas and information.
The second organization that may be very useful to entrepreneurs within the state of Wyoming, is the Wyoming business council. This site has very useful information that could help many business owners of all kinds find information regarding license information depending on their type of business, property and buildings, ideas on what types of businesses are booming, community assistance, and so much more. “The Wyoming Business Council is the state of Wyoming’s economic development agency. The Business Council works with private businesses, state agencies, local governments, local economic development groups, partners and nonprofits to grow and diversify Wyoming’s economy, create jobs and enhance quality of life.” (Wyoming Business Council, 2017)
Between these resources, there are a few things that I have found that are surprising to me. One of them being that both pages share success stories and give contact information to staff or other entrepreneurs that work with the organizations to help assist those who may need some ideas with their business ventures. I have not seen so much support before doing the research for this paper. The support between the two organizations is a very surprising and wonderful thing to see. Wyoming business council shows so much support for the state of Wyoming as well. They provide an outlook on why Wyoming is a good place to start a business for anyone and they also show many resources on there such as what licenses and permits one may need for their business and provide community data and available properties. This was surprising for me to see because I have found myself in the hardship of locating a property for my type of business and had no idea that there was a place that I could get a lot of information for my search. The Wyoming SBDC has an events and classes section that I found so useful because there is so much that many people don’t know about owning certain businesses, and these classes are a great way to get that knowledge and help us get prepared.
Both firms are quite different in many aspects, but are similar when it comes to the great support and the high amounts of information they provide. “The Wyoming SBDC Network offers a wide variety of market research and information services to Wyoming businesses. All services are free of charge and enable businesses in Wyoming to access sophisticated resources that are normally not accessible to small businesses.” (Wyoming SBDC Network, n.d.) To get assistance and more information on marketing research through Wyoming SBDC Network, you must register or contact the organization and they can help get you on the right track. “The Wyoming Small Business Development Center Network includes the Market Research Center, which assists in-state companies with understanding who their customers are, how to best reach those customers, and what the competition is doing.” (Wyoming Business Council, 2017) There is a link provided for the Wyoming Business Council through their market research page which will take you to the Wyoming SBDC Network.
