In South America in the west of the Pacific Ocean there is a small island which Is Easter Island. There was a population of at the most 7000 people according to David Abram. The island was so small that the community was surrounded by plenty of water. Explorers found carvings and writing later in there exploration which indicated that there was a high intelligence level in Easter Island.
A theory of why Easter Island was doomed is because the abusive use of resources. There was no way of getting more resource to this island since the resources were low from the existing animals. Most of the fishing spot that were local were emptied and it caused the fishing boats to go farther into the ocean to fish and also caused these fishing spots to be emptied. As population increased there were more demand for food and the food that was available did not support the growing population which in turn the population began cannibalism which caused a small number of people to be left on Easter Island. The small number of people that were left later was captured by explorers and became slaves.
The care of our planet and the shared responsibility and sustainable care is what is known as Stewardship. This is not left for one person to accomplish but for corporations, business, legislative bodies, or individuals to be stewards of our planet. By preserving biodiversity and the environment and continuing human society is known as Sustainability.
In order to maintain sustainability one should consider risk and uncertainty. Stewards of this land should be able to distinguish and identify the two and the risk involved. When the needs of human are omitted then a developing method should be developed to restore a nation. The way to do this is by the involvement of community and management practices and an establish commitment. Being aware of policies and their intent to the environment is being a good steward. Having an economic goal and environment is one of the best management practices to establish and being able to integrate policy, and technology into these plans.
The degrading environment, reduction of biodiversity and the ecological services is the result of the Environmental implications of deforestation of the Amazon.
