The primary objective in this activity was to observe possible occurrences of erosion, along with its causes and effects. We took a trip to three places in our campus: the football field, tennis court, and the creek. In the football field, tennis court, and the creek, there were signs of erosion near the hills and along the edges; some soil and weathered rock particles were transported from one place to another. There were some exposed grass roots near the tennis court and large tree roots near the creek; backcutting was also evident in these two areas, where the sides of the hills were cut off. We’ve noticed some small rills and large gullies located in each of these three, distinct places, which led to the creek. The major impact acknowledged was the pollution; all the ant killer pesticides, plant fertilizers, and various chemicals lead up to the rills and gullies, which then lead up to the creek. Afterwards, these chemicals contaminate the water in the creek and degrade the environment and surrounding nearby. Plants life and animal life in the area will be harmed and thus, inhibiting their growth in that region. Deposition was only observed in the tennis court and the creek, where we noticed some deposits of soil along the edges of the creek and sidewalks. It is conspicuous from our results that the area near the tennis court and the creek has gone through major erosion, where as, the football field has only gone through a minor one.
