In today society people commits crime and they turn to an attorney to represent them in the court and during their proceedings. Also during the course of time the client feels that he or she can confide within the attorney, and discuss several things with him or her without it being told to others. The attorney has a law that he or she has to abide by as well as the client. When falsifying the truth to save yourself and you discuss this with your attorney, the table has turned and it might not be in your favor.

The attorney-client law allows the "communication between a lawyer and his or her client is legally "privileged" that is protected from disclosure to the third parties"(Meyer & Grant (2003) p.161). This privilege encourages the client to have an open and honest relationship with his or her attorney, and therefore there will be vital information that will be told to the attorney. Many clients do not think that the attorney plays his role in the confidentiality and this is what had so many clients not communicating with their attorney, due to the distrust they felt. For many reason clients would be deceitful and hide what they thought the truth were and not knowing that this could help with their case. The attorney-client confidentiality this authorizes the client to speak freely with the attorney, which at this time the clients is giving all facts to the case whereas the attorney will have a good argument in his defense.

Being honest is a way of showing your attorney that you are dong everything in your power whereas he can beat the case and you are telling the truth. I have always thought that what ever you discuss with your attorney it is kept between the both of you regardless of what was said.

The attorney has a role in this when it comes to a client wanting to take the stand and tell a lie, and by the attorney being an officer of the court it is his or her place to disclose the information, especially if the client is considering perjury.
