Ethics are put in place for many and different types of reasons. They protect us from
unwanted behavior at our place of employment, they help to keep businesses running
smoothly and efficiently. "Even if there were no civil rights laws, no unions, no arbitration
procedures, ethical standards would still apply" (Tuttle, 1990, p. 5). Everyone should exhibit
ethical behaviors every day in every part of their lives. Corporate executives need to set
examples for the organization for which they work and show a model behavior of ethics.
People for the most part do follow ethical behaviors and if a people where to follow the
'Golden rule' more often do unto others as you would have others do unto you, then there
hopefully would not be the problems that there are today.
