What are the different ways we evaluate people?
When we first meet someone new for the first time, we have a tendency of noticing a number of things this is called Schemata. The things we notice about the person are their clothes how they wear their hair, the way their gesture is (hand or body) , manner of speaking such as their tone of voice do they have the soft speaking voice or do they have the seriousness in their voice all the time?, their body build, as well as their facial features. When we are in our first impression stages we tend to categorize the individual, depending on how we categorize the individual is how we feel around them. Every individual is able to create their own attitudes as well as behavioral patterns.
How do these factors play a role in our expectations of other people?
Once we have gone through the evaluation process we become convinced that the people we have met need to meet certain criteria in order for us to accept them into part of our lives. With speaking with others it gives us a chance to learn lots of useful information to get to know said individual. With this being said our expectations of said individual are set higher if we were to have a person who is well educated by other means and is not working in some small business that does not meet their needs. The way a person looks makes us come up with conclusions about the individual such as what type of job they have, and how their personality is. Like we have discussed many times in class and have said it over and over again we shouldn't judge people based on their looks because they are not always correct.
What are the disadvantages of these expectations?
A disadvantage of expecting certain things from people from what we perceive the can be that we see an individual who is not well educated, does not have the best clothes in the world, and we automatically perceive them to be lazy, and in all reality it can
