The pen name Ann Landers once said, “Nobody ever drowned in his own sweat," but for those who have excessive perspiration, this may not be the case with how they feel. The way they feel puts a huge toll on how they feel about themselves and how others view and think about them. Although drowning in your own sweat is not medically possible, the people that have excessive perspiration may wish that would actually happen.
People that have excessive perspiration may tend to feel very self conscious and not motivated to do things that may require them to do things that would cause most people to barely break a sweat. This may also cause people to think lower of themselves and become embarrassed when talking to people. Their perception of themselves may become distorted and they become to see themselves as less of a person. As much as sweating too much seems like a minor problem to the average person, for the people that it happens to every day, it’s a big annoyance and embarrassment to deal with in their life. Just think of your biggest insecurity and that’s how they feel when they sweat too much. They probably feel dirty and gross also because of the layers of sweat that is on them. They probably get frustrated because of how many times they have to change their clothes and how many clothes they go through a day. These people often avoid shaking hands and going to social gatherings because of their condition. Creating a relationship with someone of the opposite sex is also quite difficult because the sweat tends to be a turn off to the other person.
When you see people sweating excessively, what is your initial thought? That they’re nervous or insecure? That’s most people’s thoughts are when they view something like that. The fact that people think that can promote the person to actually get nervous and become insecure about what people are thinking when they have sweat dripping down them. People might start to perceive that person as gross and smelly, especially if the perspiration includes an odor. Others may start to think of them as nervous and just assume that they have something wrong with them. When these thoughts are occurring when people look at this person, this also may start to cause problems with making friends. Nobody wants to be known as the friend of the “stinky kid”. They also may start to tease and bully this kid for sweating and smelling so much, even though it’s not their fault. People start to distance themselves from this person even though they may be a great person on the inside. It’s very easy to judge this person based on the way they look because that’s the way society has learned to deal with things.
