She came, she saw, she conquered. Cinderella, the story of a regular girl who loses her father and is enslaved by her stepmother, shows children that they can achieve anything if they put their mind to it. For me, Cinderella was not only a story about a poor girl who marries a prince and lives happily ever after. It shows me that no matter what situation I am and how bad I think the circumstances might be; I am bound to get my happy ending, if a try hard enough.

Cinderella manages to overcome her obstacles due to the help of her friends. These animals surrounded Cinderella because she was kind and loving while the only animal that hung around the evil stepmother and her evil stepdaughters was their angry spoiled cat. This aspect of the story, teaches children that kindness will get you farther in life than hatred ever can.

In one of the first lines of Cinderella, the narrator makes it clear that the central characters name is descriptive instead of being a proper name. "Because she is always looked dusty and dirty, they called her Cinderella". In fairy tales, the names of the characters are common to allow the readers to identify with the protagonist and imagine themselves in their skin.

At the age when Cinderella was read to us, we dreamt of marrying our prince charming and living happily ever after. Now that we are all grown up, Cinderella represents a woman who never gave up, even though the world seemed to have given up on her. She overcame barriers, never accepted defeat and was kind to everyone even if they did not reciprocate her goodness. In the end, she got what she had worked to hard to achieve. She can be portrayed as a heroine in the eyes of the young and the old, and that's what makes her a "great character who populates out collective imagination".
