Title:
Hypothesis:
Data:
Mass of Aluminum: 0.23g
Mass of Filter paper: 0.85g
Mass of Filter and Copper: 2.97g
Mass of copper: 2.12g
Percent Yield:
2.23/27*3/2*63.5= 0.23g
2.12/0.811*100=262%
Observations: As soon as we put the sheet of AL into the Chlorine solution. The Cl started to form little air bubbles. The Al started to fizz and disintegrated rapidly. The AL started to form rust all over the sheet eventually covering the entire sheet. The CL liquid looked foggy and cloudy. As the Al kept dissimilating the some pieces started falling to the bottom of the beaker and stayed there.
After the Al fully disintegrated we placed the mixture onto the filter paper. The following class period we observed what had happened to the mixture. The new copper solution was formed. We started the lab with a solid Al and a liquid Cl. Half way through it both items were liquid. In the end of our lab it formed in a solid copper mixture.
Procedure:
Make sure all group member are wearing goggles.
Get__ mL of __ in a beaker.
Get a piece of Al and weigh it in a scale. Record the weight on to a chart.
Then carefully place the piece of Al into the __ solution in the beaker.
Observe what is happening to the piece of Al.
Let the Al dissolve fully in solution.
Take the filter paper and weight it on the scale, then record the weight.
Then take the filter and form a cone shape out of it.
Take the cone filter and place it on a rack, with a beaker under it.
Take the mixture in the beaker and pour it over the filter paper.
Let the mixture flow completely through the filter paper.
