- Is this dissertation a scholarly work? - Explain why it is, or is not.
The author clearly has shown and proven the understanding of the topic and have being noticed knowledgeable within the field. She provided good sources and reading material and also, in this case, has shown her knowledge and understanding. Most of the sources are academic and peer-reviewed, whis is a basic requirement for writing a thesis. Having said that, also the writer brought a complete new perspective on the subject. She didn’t only went really deep into the subject, financial statements of the company, and the important economic indicators & rations; but also she used a deep, clear, and useful analysis such as the Altman Analysis and the IN analysis to describe models of bankruptcy.
- What are the strengths of this dissertation?
I would say that the subject chosen is quite difficult and therefore the main strength of this thesis is definitely the overall complexity. She had used all of the important factors that should be discussed such as the financial analysis, introduction of the company, analysis of the financial statements, important ratios regarding the crisis, important economic indicators, and other analysis's for example DU Pont, Working Capital and, as said before, the bankruptcy models.
- What are the weaknesses?
Rather than focussing mainly on statements and ratios of the company [which are indeed essential for analysis] I would have suggested for her the she would had focussed on new approaches and tools that allows the company or author to find for mistakes where not expecting them. A primary tool or principle for this example could be ABC for instance [Activity Based Costing].
- What grade would you give the dissertation? Explain why you give this assessment an A (outstanding), B (very good), C (satisfactory), or D (just passing)
Although the focus lays on the interpretation and analysis of the company, still the work is very clear, deep, solid, and definitely academia. I would grade it with an A-.

- Is this dissertation a scholarly work? Explain why it is, or is not.
The author has shown that she understand the topic clearly and many reliable, peer-reviewed sources have been used. Mainly obviously regarding HR Management, but that should be expected. As asked, the author has brought a new perspective on the subject. The main point to defend this is that she has used the specific example of The Halyk Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan with the effort to increase the efficiency of one individual department, known as the HR.
