In the movie "Finding Forrester" there were two main characters. One was an African American teenager named Jemal. The other was an old Caucasian man named William. They both lived in the Bronx and would have never expected to have helped each other so much. At the beginning of the movie, Jemal breaks into William's apartment and William catches him. Surprised by William, Jemal runs away and forgets his backpack. William finds all of Jemal's essays, corrects all of his work, then throws his backpack out the window. Jemal gets his backpack, discovers all of his fixed work, and asks William to help him with more papers. William agrees only if Jemal agreed to keep him a secret. With William's help Jemal gets into a private school on a scholarship. To thank him, Jemal takes William to a baseball field that he grew up on for his birthday. This was a big step for William because he hadn't left his home since his first book. After this, Jemal gets help from William on his final essay for class. Unknowingly Jemal used one of William's titles and first paragraphs. His teacher accused him of plagiarizing and told Jemal the only way out of it would be to prove that he had William's permission in using his writing. William refused to speak to the teacher because he didn't go out in public. As Jemal sat in class listening to other students read their essays, William appeared and read one of Jemal's essays. Everyone loved his work. After that, William decided to move home to Scotland to start to live his life outside of the walls of his apartment. Jemal helped William gain the confidence to write again and to come out of the metaphorical cage he had built around himself and William helped Jemal take his spectacular writing to the next level.
