Five Guys Burgers and Fries was started in 1986 in the D.C. Metropolitan Area by Jerry Murrell and his four sons and since then has grown rapidly in the United States and Canada mainly by sticking to their core beliefs and values. Five Guys Burger and Fries has learned to distinguish themselves from other fast food companies by making themselves more comfortable to be around by having a high value on the respect of its customers and employees.
The original values can be seen throughout at Five Guys Burger and Fries till this day because once a customer walks through their doors to be greeted by a sign that states "You the customer are the most important visitor on our premises. You are not dependent on us, we are dependent on you. You are not an outsider in our business - you are a part of it. We are not doing you a favor by serving you - you are doing us a favor by giving us the opportunity to do so." This shines a light on one of their core values of respecting the customer because without the customer they wouldn't be where they were at.
Their goal is also represented strongly throughout the company today as if it was their first day opening by stating "at Five Guys Burger and Fries goal is to sell the best quality burgers possible. To sell the best burger possible, we focus on Quality, Service, and Cleanliness." This goal is clearly evident when you dine at a Five Guys Burgers and Fries; the employees are very respectful and welcome you as you enter with a happy greeting. Upon ordering the employees take the time to learn the customer's name so it feels more homely and to follow on their promise of providing quality service. The food is cooked directly in front of you to your order, while the employees follow every health Guideline to ensure Cleanliness of the workplace; there is no type of secrecy to what they are doing to your burger or Fries. The burgers are fresh and never frozen, and at Five Guys Burger and Fries go the extra mile to inform you what state/region the potatoes that are used for the French fries are from. Also to make sure that you are well accommodated while you wait on your food to be made they make free roasted peanuts available to all of their customers. To keep up their promise with Quality Service, unlike any other fast food restaurant at Five Guys Burger and Fries delivers the food to the table that you are seated at.
There are 3 factors that contributed to 5 Guys Burgers and Fries rapid success is Human resources, Capital, and the concentration on the quality of their product. Jerry Murrell, founder of at Five Guys Burger and Fries, makes sure not just to take care of his customers but also his employees. at Five Guys Burger and Fries is made an idea place to work because he knows how to reward its employees who perform within the company's beliefs and values. Murrell like to make the employee feel a sense of ownership which will make the same employee feel more accountable if they are not performing to the company's standards. The Company hires "secret shoppers" to check in on its employees to make sure that the facilities along with the quality of food and service
