Over the past 2 year the I-pod and similar products have become extremely popular. People are buying them as gifts and for themselves. With the release of the I-pod came a flurry of accessories to make it more "user friendly," which has been Apple's claim to fame in it's war against the PC (no contest really).
Technology has grown by leaps and bounds in the last several years. One thing that has spawned from this new creative burst is flash storage, a new alternative to the old fashioned hard-drive. The messiah of this new technology has been the recent innovation by Apple: the I-pod Nano. This un-official "joint venture" between Korean tech giant, Samsung, and Apple has put Flash memory in the playing field, in a major way.
In only three months, SanDisk, the current industry leader, has had stock jump up 80%. Smaller companies such as Lexar Media, M-systems Flash Pioneers, and Silicon Motion, are up an average of 35%, also over a three month period.
SanDisk has just released a new product called TrustedFlash. Previously they sold only empty flash cards. Now with TrustedFlash you can have them pre-loaded with music, movies, and pictures. Their price is hauling a premium, starting at 39.95 for the simplest product.
