He was Born as Francis Edward Turner on December 28 1981 in Manama Bahrain to Roger and Jane Turner. This amazing artist grew up in Meonstoke Hampshire UK. Not much is said on his early life, though we can take from his song Oh Brother that he was an only child with a very close friend who he wished was his brother. He did attend Eton College where he studied by prince William, then transferring to the London school of economics and political science.
Starting music as a career in 2001, Turner was not always a solo acoustic artist. He was the vocalist for million dead and MÖngÖL HÖrde which are punk bands. At both of those times he was known by different names such as Renrut and Frank "Dave" turner. After the bands broke up, Turner then started playing acoustic folk and alternative punk music while being accompanied by the Sleeping Sirens. He commonly plays a Fardia J-ft; this particular acoustic is no longer sold anywhere. In turners music each album with its evocation of history and memory, album England keep my bones is also about time and by extension, mortality and this mortality is unmediated by religion.
Turner on stage he continually engages the audience in the music teaching us a few words from a song for example in the song four simple words, he tells us that "next time we come to a show repeat these few words... I Want To Dance." He also hangs out before and after a concert to meet the fans and say hey so you can commonly find him at enterances and he doesn't sell backstage as he finds that each person is equal and nobody should have to pay extra to go back stage when it really is just a work place. He is known to actually answer emails, letters, twitter responses when he is not very busy or sick. In some of his music videos he has some fans from the area they are shooting in come in and be apart of the video, he even gets tattoos during videos like in the video for Losing days.
Turner says his influence for his music is his life stories, his tattoos, and Springsteen. Behind each tattoo Is a story from his life. The sound boxes on his fore arms are for his love of music. He has a tattoo on his bicep of an album cover that he actually got during a music video shoot it was for Losing Days. He is commonly known to get tattoos while on the tour bus when he is bored.
He made a major change from going Punk to alternataive punk, his work is often earnest narrative taken from his lived experience. He doesn't write about just these random events but he writes about these major events in his life that others can relate and go through themselves on
