Teenagers nowadays do not really pay attention to the world that revolves around them. This unbecoming behaviour is a result of apathy towards the events since they are trapped in their own narrow-minded lifestyle. Most teenagers waste most of their time doing things that are unable to develop their abilities. Moreover, their perspective towards school is that it is not essential for their future and hence they take it for granted. Therefore, albeit being a teenager myself, I agree with the statement that teenagers really do not know what to do with their lives.

The most crucial issue here is that teenagers nowadays lack guidance. Parents and teachers fail to instil in students the importance of school which is essential for their future careers. Most of them only go to school as a formality and to fulfil their parents' expectations of them without knowing their own intention. Some others come to school only for the sake of meeting their friends and having fun. Ironically, some others go to school and spend most of their time doing school-related matters yet they do not really comprehend how the subjects they learn will affect their success in the future. The lack of early guidance about the awareness of their future may cause them to waste their time. Thus, they do not really know what to do with their lives or how to achieve the future they desire.

Apart from that, teenagers are often faced with adolescent challenges and are most likely to be hindered by them. During adolescence, teenagers are trying to find their own identity. They get very easily influenced by other people because they normally try their very best to fit in. For example, a person befriending a group of skateboarders would eventually try to learn to skateboard so that he can blend better with the group and gain acceptance. Hence, with an unstable personality and naïve vulnerability it is easy for teenagers to lose their main aim and therefore not really know what they want to do with their lives.

On the contrary, some may argue that that may not be the case. Not all teenagers are aimless zombies. Some actually know what they want to do with their lives and start their journey of sculpting their future at a very early age. They go for tuition and extra classes and get involved in competitions and tournaments in their schools. They mix with the right group of friends and will study hard to eventually gain a scholarship to do a course that they have been eyeing
