Friendships Through Sports
I have been playing football since I was a little boy around the age of eight or nine. I remember being a very shy kid when I was younger. I was always up under my mother so I guess you can call me a momma's boy. I remember my father told me to get dress and put on my play shoes because we were going to the park. I was so excited because as a boy I loved going to the park to get on the swings or slide down the slides. When we finally arrived to the park I seen a lot of little boys my age standing around on the field. I was wondering why no one is in the sandbox. So I run to the sand box and my father grabbed me and told me we are going to play football. I had no idea what football was so I was very curious. My first day at practice was so fun. I met so many different people during the sports of football and basketball and I cherish all the good times I had with the guys. Through all the hard work in football I was fortunate enough to earn a full athletic scholarship at the University of New Mexico. This was a very difficult experience for me because I was away from my family and friends. I had to start a whole new life alone knowing not one soul in Albuquerque. I can remember my first day introduced to the team like it was yesterday. Everyone looked so different to me because they all were from different parts of the country. In the book it talked about friendships starts from similar backgrounds but we all came from different backgrounds. As the time past I grew to learn each person on the team and finally came across the idea that we might be all from different parts of the country but we all love the same music, sports, and other stuff an average young adult would enjoy.
