GROUP 1
Hard work is the price we have to pay for success
Some people claim that the key to success is hard work. However, others argue that it´s only the top of the iceberg, and that other factors such as talent or good luck, should be taken into account
People belonging to the last group believe that though hard work is important there are other factors that should be present if you want to be successful. To begin with, natural talent is essential for success. In fact, talented people will have an easier time trying to succeed in life than those who are not gifted. A talented person who works hard will have better chances in life than someone who just works hard. Besides, hard work shouldn’t be so much praised because it endangers your health causing illnesses like stress and anxiety. People who spend more than eight hours working, leave aside essential healthy habits such as sleeping the advisable amount of time, eating properly, exercising regularly or even socializing. In addition to what has been said people in this group point out that good luck plays a very important role in succeeding. They strongly believe that success is being in the right place, at the right time.
On the other hand, those belonging to the first group support the idea that nothing beats hard work. They claim that successful people are made, not born. In addition, if one is not willing to put in work to harvest and cultivate their talent, then the talent itself is essentially useless. Also, hard work always accomplishes something. It has been said “some people dream of success, while others wake up and work hard at it”. Moreover, hard work is like a magnet for opportunities. Sometimes these opportunities just seem to appear out of thin air, other times they come through new acquaintances. Last but not least, luck is useless if you can't use it. Thomas Jefferson said “I´m a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it”.
All in all, and needless to say, both groups present relevant ideas. However, we agree with the second group since we consider that no success is achieved without hard work or sweat.
GROUP 2
Hard work is the price we must pay for success
Some people claim that only working hard makes you a successful person. However, others believe that in order to be successful you not only have to work hard but also to have talent among other skills.
People belonging to the first group argue that hard work and success go hand in hand.
For them, success is the reward they get for working hard and overcoming every obstacle they meet. Effort is one of the most important skills these people take into account because for them no matter how talented you are, if you want to reach your goal you can’t seat and wait, you always have to be doing something for it and never give up.
Hard workers may not have the key to reach success but they state that it is through working hard that you get experience, lots of knowledge and respect.
On the other hand, there is a group of people who say that hard work is only one ingredient of the whole recipe to succeed. They believe there are many other aspects that go together with it, like talent, personality and a bit of good luck.
Without talent, no matter how hard you work, you will keep striving for something that you may never achieve simply because you were not meant for it. Besides, all your effort will give you knowledge and experience which is great, but it’s not the success you are longing for.
Another important fact in the road to success is Personality. If you are not a person with a strong character, willing to persevere in your goals, the smallest problem that you find in your path will be enough to discourage you, and as a consequence you may give up on your long term goal. Last but not least, the support of your family is claimed to be an essential ingredient too.
