The documentary "Ghost of Attica" shows what happened in the Attica riot and the lawsuit placed against the state. The Attica prison riot took place in the Attica correctional facility in New York in 1971. A group of inmates rebelled and took control of the prison and 40 employees as hostages. After that followed inmates demanding better living conditions in the already overcrowded prison, adequate food and water, better medical treatment, legal representation, amnesty, and a whole list of other demands. The riot lasted for 5 days and ended in a bloody scene. Governor Nelson Rockefeller ordered an attack on the prison in order to gain back control. Inmates held up hostages with knives to there throats, but State Troopers went in to the prison with guns ready to kill. The troopers ended up killing 29 inmates, 10 hostages and wounding over 80 people.

The massacre that took placed in Attica was a brutal fight between the inmates and the state to regain control of the prison. The police were just having their fun with inmates and that should have not been allowed to happen. It is sad as well to see that we would do anything to gain back control even if it means to kill our own employees.

Some of the request that the inmates were demanding were non-negotiable, but others were basically human basic rights. For example, one of the demands was amnesty. This request is not negotiable. These inmates can't think that they could rebel, take over a prison, kill their own ,kill some guards, and not be
