This is a film written about a group of individuals who have been diagnosed with various classifications of illness. There are multiple individual diagnoses' concerning problems that need specialized care and treatment in order to help individuals attain stability through corrective modification therapies and to cope with what is considered, malfunctioning or maladaptive behavior in society. My character was played by Winona Ryder. In 1967, 19-year-old Susanna (Winona Ryder) is diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder, (301.83). But 301.83 states (does not include suicidal or self-mutilating tendencies). She attempts suicide and is unsuccessful. I would postulate that her major diagnosis is coupled with Major Depressive Episodes that are also a feature in her diagnosis. The symptoms associated with this problem are also related to Borderline Personality Disorder and are further complicated by imagined abandonment, patterns of unstable and intense interpersonal relationships, identity disturbance, impulsivity promiscuous sex and adultery, use of alcohol (vodka), nicotine addiction and marijuana usage. Mood disorders, isolation and mental confusion culminate in her downward spiral of having noticeable episodes of a depressed mood most of the day, nearly every day (e.g., feels sad or empty' and retains very irritable moods. There is a markedly diminished interest or pleasure in all activities with the diminished capacity to plan or execute goals in her life concerning almost all activities most of the day or for future planning. There is a also present feeling of worthlessness and excessive or inappropriate guilt nearly every day with indecisiveness and recurrent thoughts of death (not just fear of dying), recurrent suicide ideation without a specific plan, and a suicide attempt that resulted in hospitalization and concern for the immediate family and the medical community.

Winona is placed in the hospital; an attempted suicide from alcohol and a bottle of aspirin. She is from an affluent family, and in denial of her present mental condition. She tries to self-medicate with drugs to alleviate from the pain and confusion she is experiencing. Due to her age and cultural underpinnings, parental expectations and social environment; the situation has expanded to a detrimental level of suicide attempt.
