Last year I was talking to a coworker who had signed up for a summer class at Miami. I told her I want to finish my degree and she suggested we take some classes together. So, in the fall we signed up to take a history class. I thought it might be a little easier, to return to school after 10 years, if I had a friend. I knew I could not complete my degree at Miami because they do not accept all of the two year program classes. I would have to basically start all over. One night before class I met a lady from Franklin University. She said they would give me credit for my classes and they had an online program. So, I forwarded a copy of my transcripts and talked to a couple of counselors. One lady said they would not accept my account classes the other one said they would. I did not feel comfortable with this school. So, I did not go to any school. Next thing I knew I was in tax season again. Since, I work two jobs during tax season my busy time does not end until June. I guess I got lazy and decide to take the summer off. Then, in the fall I got online and search for a college and found Phoenix. I did not know what to think about online classes but I figure I could try it and see what happens. So, here I am.
I always knew I would return to school to finish my degree. Actually, I think I will always take classes here and there.
My biggest hope is to complete my degree and learn new things. I hope to learn things that I can use in the real world. I hope to learn how to except changes and how to deal with them . As I was read my homework it make think of all the small things we have in our daily lives but never think about them. I guess I was to busy working out, cooking diner, doing laundry and watching my aunt die. Life changes everyday and guess I should be changing. I truly never gave it that much thought. See this class it already changing me. One other thing, I never thought of my coworker as a team.
I think getting my degree will make me feel better about myself. I will have complete a project that I set out to do 12 years ago. Completing this degree will not get a rise or a promotion. Although, if I apply for another job I will be able to put it down on my resume. I am just doing this for the satisfaction of knowing that I completed my degree. Once, I have my degree no one
can take that away. See I am the only person in my family to go to college. So, I hope maybe someday I can help someone else to decide to return to school.
