We knew that the carpets and leathers that were flooded would not be able to be cleaned and recycled but there were so many areas that could be invited and cleaned up. We decided to do something to help. We came together for the biggest project GreenFloors has ever done. Our staff divided up into four groups. I was the leader of my group of twenty-five workers, Group 1.
Group 1 was the first group to visit Louisiana. Each group would be down there working for five days. We had no idea to what we would experience physically and emotionally in the short period of time. Our job was very simple, clean homes and buildings, while sorting and collecting usable materials. We would transport the usable materials back home were the materials would be recycled. We mainly collected carpet and leather. We did not just want to collect usable materials that could be recycled; we also wanted to help our fellow Americans. These people needed more help then we could give but they loved us for doing what we could for them and our environment.
