Guide to Life
I am an 18 year old student who is undecided in which path to take in life. Id say my minds most often thoughts concern the future. I find myself thinking a lot about what will happen, if my generation will have a future and what to expect. As I sit in my living room writing this I see pictures of family, both older and younger, some who have passed on and some who have just entered the world. I think what they have been through and what their futures may be like. My grandparents have been through a lot in their lives such as 2 world wars, assassination attempts (some which were successful) and the development of healthcare. I begin to wonder if all of this has happened in their lifetimes what is in store for my generation and generations after me. Will there be a third world war, or a new epidemic, or on the positive side, will we discover life beyond ours or develop new ways in preserving our planet. I think back to my past, going through school, and what I have been through so far. 9/11 made me think a lot about life death, and war. I remember the morning in which it happened, I was sitting in my first period class when the announcements delivered the news. My teacher continued the class like nothing was going on. I did not think much of it at first until I got to my next class and was able to watch TV and talk with peers. When I found out the towers had fallen it made me think how I would never be able to see those buildings, That you shouldn't hold back in life and you should do as you please, if it is to travel and see the world or to start a family and raise kids, life is short and your opportunities may disappear. I want to live my life to the fullest day by day. I could never see myself committing to doing the same thing everyday; it just seems too boring for me. I want to travel and see what the world has to offer even if the future isn't good. My dad used to tell me when I was younger and still in grade school "You have to be there anyway, so you might as well make the best of it." Now that I am older I can relate this to life, to how and why I live mine the way I do.
