Introduction

        Millions of Americans each year suffer from not having health insurance. Many people simply cannot afford it or they are denied for ridiculous reasons from private health insurance companies. This is not a fair system for those who have pre-existing conditions or don’t make enough money to pay for it. Some type of universal health care system is what this country needs because everyone deserves medical care when in need of it. With the current healthcare system, many families cannot afford to pay for health insurance, many people with pre-existing conditions are denied coverage, and many drugs that people, such as the elderly, need are too expensive to pay for.

                                             My View

Healthcare and human rights have a history of being problematic topics of debate. It is often that these two subjects coincide. They also pose the question of if healthcare should be considered a human right. When you ask around the feedback you get is that most don’t fully understand the argument of healthcare being adopted as a human right. To fully understand, it is necessary to examine all the differences in the issue. Even though the US is going through a transition into their version of a universal healthcare. There still is a need to address the underlying issue of healthcare being a human right. Everyone in the US has the right to live in a standard way. We all also have the right to the wellbeing of myself and family. This includes housing, healthcare, and necessary services in the event of thing that happen beyond his/her control.

             Healthcare providers and nurses are valuable when assessing the moral issue in health care as a human right. When asking around about the role healthcare providers and nurses play. The response will be that justice and care are the main components to the nurse’s role. Nurses believe in serving the people. All healthcare systems employees adhere to the ethic codes of human rights. Nurses are a small key player in the adoption of human rights in our healthcare system.

                                       Counter Argument

          Opponents to the idea of human rights being a part of the healthcare system gives the government less power. It supposedly takes away the ability to provide and control healthcare. Some even say that human right in the healthcare system can create a large network to micromanage in the delivery of medical care and financing.  Critics contradict themselves when they try to argue against the creation of a network built by the system. The assumption is that opponents can argue that providing healthcare to all Americans would greatly decrease the quality of healthcare. Some even question the response of a healthcare system that is ran by the government. During the argument the subject of how and why the United States is the world's biggest health care spender, surpassing countries that provide universal health care access.
