My Visit With Juan Carlos I want to go to Chinandega, Nicaragua because I want to experience the culture, food and most importantly meet Juan. I will take hope to experience some things about how there lives are different then ours. When I experience those different this I will compare them to our lifestyle and see how alike or unlike our lifestyles are. I also want to eat there food. Food is a big part in every one's culture because we all need it to live and every one's is different.
Day 1
I had to wake up at 5:30 to get to the airport in time for my flight. I first had to take an hour flight to LA. Then I took the 10 hour flight from LA to Managua, Nicaragua. From Managua I took a bus ride to Chinandega; that bus ride took 2 and a half hours. After My 13 hour journey it was 8:30 at night. I had booked a hotel for that night so I went straight to bed. I would see Juan In the morning.Day 2I woke up late because I was jet-lagged from the journey. I felt the wet rainy breeze through my window. I was very tired but I wanted to see Juan as soon as possible. So I went outside and saw the amazing green trees in the gleaming sunlight. I walked outside and I saw a little restaurant at the end of the street. The food was amazing; I had rice and beans for breakfast(a first) but still very good and it filled me up. Then I asked for a map of Chinandega because I wasn't sure how to find Juan. I figured out that Juan lives on the east side of Chinandega so I had to take a taxi. The taxi ride took 20 minutes Juan was waiting outside of his shop for me. I saw the new sculptures that he put outside his shop. They look great. I could tell from the start that he was very talented. Just from looking outside his shop. I remembered that same smile as from the picture. It was almost a straight face but you could see a glint of smile in his eyes. We went inside his studio and he showed me his work belt and his workbench and I was just waiting to see what he could create. I got a lesson from Juan about how to make a table and he explained that he made a bunch of the furniture for his house and his parents. Then it was about lunch time so we went to a pizza place(Can you believe it, they still have pizza in Nicaragua!). He said that it is the best pizza you have ever had.

So we went to get some Pizza and It tasted really good. He was really excited to get to know me and my culture and I was excited to learn about his. So we traded stories and daily routines. He told about where he lived and how early he would get up in the morning to how he would brush his teeth before he went to bed and I did too. Juan had learned english in school as well as spanish so we could communicate very well. I asked him about Nicaragua and he said that it was a very wet and humid place because it's near the equator. He also said that since it's the summer it's been very hot working in his shop. He says that even though it's mostly a spanish spoken country that there is a lot of white and caribbean people. Then he asked me what religion I follow I really like how he said that because some people are really into one religion they will say something like "are you Catholic or Christian or Muslim or something like that. But he said "what religion do you follow" and that sounds really kind to me. I told him that I don't really follow a religion instead of going to church I would just go surfing. Since I had just brought up surfing he said that he had been a few times out to a surf spot on the coast. He told me that the waves were towering way over his said and he rented a board and kept doing backflips in the waves as he tried to stand up; but he said that he would always end up on the beach tired and beat up from the powerful waves crashing down on him. He told me some interesting facts about his country like their Population 5,907,881 (July 2015 est.) and their age structure. 0-14 years: 28.57% (male 860,721/female 827,136) 15-24 years: 22.16% (male 657,339/female 651,744) 25-54 years: 38.69% (male 1,081,081/female 1,204,669) 55-64 years: 5.6% (male 153,711/female 177,334) 65 years and over: 4.98% (male 131,965/female 162,181) (2015 est.) He also told me about how there has been some great groups to help them get good drinking water and there potable water stats; improved: urban: 99.3% of population rural: 69.4% of population total: 87% of population unimproved: urban: 0.7% of population rural: 30.6% of population total: 13% of population (2015 est.) We went back to his house to meet his parents. He drove his mom's car here to meet me so he gave me a lift for a 20 minute drive. I rolled down the window of the little sedan and could feel the moisture in the air. About halfway there it started raining; I could feel and smell the rain hitting the concrete. I could see the raindrops bouncing of the leaves of the tropical plants.
It was a dark rainy day but it was still bright. His parents house was an older blue house. His parents were Carlos and Ruby. They were very inviting to me and we eat dinner which consisted of tamales, tortillas, rice and beans. It was dark by the time we got out of his parents so he offered to take me to my
