Heroes
In modern society there is an immense amount of individuals who risk their lives to ensure the safety and the well being of others. We usually call these people heroes. But heroes are too often taken for granted and do not receive the ideal amount of recognition. Heroes are like soldiers in today’s militias, with the exception of having super-human strength and X-ray vision. With the increased amount of awareness of these modern day heroes many people are inspired to become heroes themselves.
For example being a firefighter can be an exciting career for anyone, however, with it comes a multitude of hardships and consequences, one in particular being deathвЂ"a possibility dreading at all times on the job. As a result, firefighters are often labeled as being courageous figures in society. Who else can tell stories of staring death straight in the eyes on a regular basis? It is mind-boggling for me to grasp the idea of arriving to work with the thought of that day being my last, losing all that has been gained through life. These same thoughts are the basis of the majority of people when agreeing in unison that heroes are greatly appreciated, as they are unselfish role models who put the lives of others before their own.
Heroes can have many qualities that many people see as exceptional. Many people want to gain these same qualities thinking it would make them better people. Of course usually many people already have inner qualities that are possessed by these so called heroes. It sometimes just takes a stranger to point it out to you.
I can recall some heroes from my past such as The Power Rangers, Superman, and others. Of course my perception of a hero has changed quite a bit since I was a child. Now days my idea of a hero is usually someone who changes what is supposedly written in stone. Someone such as Albert Einstein, who is one of my heroes, he changed the laws of modern physics. And even though he never actually saved anyone, he changed many scientist ideas and opinions about our universe.
It does not matter if the hero is a man, woman, animal or an intimate object that springs to life. It does not matter where the hero comes from or how old he or she is. The only thing that a hero needs is for someone to believe that they are a hero.
